We're Back

(Our family at Fur Rondy last weekend in Anchorage)

Living in Alaska never ceases to have new and exciting adventures. "Fur Rondy" is an annual week long festival featuring dog sled races, outhouse races and the ceremonial start of the Iditarod. We enjoyed an afternoon of family fun. We were joined throughout the afternoon by several folks from our ministry (Including Kyle who had been staying in our bunk room for a few days awaiting the final word to head out on his year-long deployment).

We are hoping to use our blog to get information to you on how to get involved. We hope you'll check back and use the links you find in our e-mail updates to point you to specific information posted here.

In Christ,
Dan, Barb, Caleb, and Audrey

Vision for Ministry

Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests

FAMILY
We are studying and memorizing Phillipians 4: 4-9 and learning to stop worrying and start praying: telling God what we need from Him and thanking Him for all He has done and then learning to receive God's Peace.

Audrey (5): Is a little delayed in speech pronunciation but this problem may correct itself once she starts school. She enjoys doing "Sing, Spell, Read and Write" with Mom during the day.

Caleb (10)
: Please pray for his emotional and social struggles at school and in groups. He also needs to continue learning self control. He loves to draw, read, and invent strange gadgets.

Barb
: Pray that she would make good health decisions to lower cholesterol and feel better. The challenges of being in ministry (the MCHH 'mom'), and managing being a wife and mom.

Dan: Pray for his Crohn's disease, sleep struggles, and joint pain. Managing these stresses also takes a toll on his ability to focus and stay on top of the many administrative responsibilities in military ministry.

MINISTRY
Our financial situation is struggling. We need around $1000 more in monthly support to be able to stay here for the long haul. (See our Donation post for more info on how to help.) We are cutting expenses where we can and are living on a generous 1 time donation to make up the difference, but will practically have to leave Alaska within 2 years if these monthly monies are not made up. Pray that God would sell some of those "cattle on a thousand hills" (PS 50:10).

Leaders: Pray that God would bring mature leaders into our ministry to mentor and help grow some of our singles and married folks. Many of our folks want to grow...they just need a mentor (programs only go so far).

Chaplains: Pray that we continue to be blessed with caring and connected chaplains that we can partner with to reach these military friends.

Community: As you may know our community is made up of people from both the Army & Air Force bases here. We have several men and women from each base deployed to locations around the world. Which means we have spouses and children here at home without them. Please be in constant prayer for these families, wives and children, in stressful situations.

Wes and Elaine: (Our 1 year ministry interns) They have officially been accepted to Cadence and will need to continue to raise funds and will within 6 months likely be off to a location of their own. Providing a "Home away from Home" for military folks somewhere else in the world. Pray for replacements to help fill their shoes here in Alaska and pray for their next location!  We're going to miss them terribly!

Becoming a Financial Partner

We need people to join our financial support team!

Contribute! We are currently around $1000 short in monthly giving. Any amount large or small will help. These are some of our monthly expenses:
$350 in gas for the vehicles
$450 in natural gas and electric per month
$1000 per month just on food to feed our Soldiers/Airmen and their families on ministry nights
$3200 in housing costs!

Yikes! It's expensive here, but we love the opportunity to minister to these people. God has provided in amazing ways in the past, and we have faith that he will continue to do so. It's wonderful to be on God's team as He works in peoples' lives. Lives are really changing for Christ!

Would you consider donating monthly to help pay these bills? We are truly thankful for those of you who partner with us in this way!

One Time Gifts: Special Project

Special Project & Giving Opportunity

Our home is also a ministry facility. We are doing a bit of renovation mostly by our own labor with some others helping. But we have discovered we are in a bit of a jam that labor can not fix.

We are currently overloading our house electrically: over burdening breakers and possibly creating a fire hazard risk. We need an upgrade that is done by the professionals and will cost around $3500.
(Technical terms: upgrade from 100 amp to 200 amp service, dual central ground, new outside main box and upgrade interior box.)
(Practical terms: we'd like to be able to use the coffee pot and microwave at the same time.)

Would you considering giving financially to this new upgraded electrical system to provide safer and more effective power for our home and ministry?
